MB INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, November 27, 2008 27 Alive Art to die for 31 Fruitful ideas 28 DINING 29 TOP NOSH 28 WHAT'S ON 30 Win tickets to Disney's stage show of High School Musical The cast of Disney's High School Musical jump for joy. JUST as the school holidays begin Disney's High School Musical will open at the Capitol Theatre, Sydney. The gala opening will be on Thursday, December 18, with previews from December 14. The 32-strong cast of High School Musical, were phenomenally talented and highly energetic performers, said joint producers Kevin Jacobsen and Tim McFarlane. The stage show, based on the Disney Channel original movie, features all the characters and chart-topping songs from the movie. The cast includes Rebecca Tapia, of Croydon, as Gabriella Montez, the shy but gorgeous brainiac with the sweetest voice at school, and Chris Durling as Troy Bolton, captain of the Wildcats basketball team and the coolest guy at East High. The story follows the plight of Troy and Gabriella who discover they have a secret passion for singing. When they decide to audition for the student musical it sends shock waves through the high school's rigid social cliques. The producers say it is an infectious celebration of both individualism and togetherness, with a story that says you don't have to change to be accepted, you just have to be yourself.
