12 INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, December 11, 2008 MB NEWS Three Wise Men on camels rode down Burwood Rd as part of a nativity scene. Picture: ISABELLA LETTINI ~PP226010 Tradition on parade THE Three Wise Men temporarily brought Burwood to a standstill on Saturday when they rode their camels down Burwood Rd as part of this year's annual nativity re- enactment. This is the fourth year Burwood Council has hosted the camel parade and nativity scene as part of its annual Christmas celebrations. Dressed in traditional costume, and bear- ing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, the Three Wise Men and their camels travelled 500m down Burwood Rd in the direction of the Uniting Church where they paid homage to the baby Jesus, and his parents Mary and Joseph. The re-enactment was accompanied by hourly readings of the traditional Christmas story as well as a collection of festive hymns and carols performed by local children.
