Tell us at www.innerwestweekly.com.au From Page 1 ''The shoppers have to climb a flight of stairs to go up to the station and then go back down another set to get to the plat- form -- quite a daunting feat. ''It is not uncommon to see people staggering up and down the stairs as they struggle to haul their heavy shopping carts, trying their utmost not to trip over their own feet. ''And still there is no easy access to the market via public transport.'' Although the Paddy's Mar- kets website says it's just a three-minute walk from Flemington station, Mr Wasef says they have not taken into consideration the time it takes having to drag shopping bags up and down the station stairs. He would like the government to install a lift in the station before shoppers decide they have had enough. ''Every major station has a lift, why not Flemington?'' he asked. ''The State Government should look to resolving this problem, it's going to make things easier for people to carry their stuff around.'' A RailCorp spokeswoman said Flemington was not listed for an upgrade. ''RailCorp is committed to ensuring railway stations are accessible to everyone in the community including people with disabilities, the elderly and parents with prams,'' the spokeswoman said. ''Flemington railway station is not currently listed for an easy access upgrade. ''Each station is reviewed for its relative priority in the net- work for future upgrade. ''Nearby stations that are ac- cessible by wheelchairs include Lidcombe and Strathfield.''
