8 INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, January 22, 2009 MB NEWS Man stabbed in road-rage fight A MAN is in hospital after being stabbed in an apparent road-rage incident in Summer Hill on Monday. Police were called to Liverpool Rd, near Parramatta Rd after reports of a fight between two male motorists about 6pm. They found a man with a stab wound in his stomach. He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. The second man, aged 26, from Burwood, had a minor cut on his leg. He was taken by police to Canterbury Hospital where he received treatment. After being released he was taken to Burwood police station where he was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was refused bail and was due to appear in Burwood Court on Tuesday. Carjacker points gun at woman CRIME STOPPERS 1800 333 000 on the beat 1 3 2 1 POLICE are appealing for the public's help after a woman had her car stolen at gunpoint in Lidcombe on Monday night. The 56-year-old woman was driving her silver 2005 Honda Civic in Mark St, Lidcombe, when a man slowly walked across the street in front of her. She slowed down to let him cross but he stopped in front of her and appeared to talk to her. The woman couldn't hear him so she wound down her window. The man is alleged to have pulled out a silver handgun, pointed it at her head and told her to get out of her car. The woman was not injured in the incident but the man drove off in her car, registration number ATW-85X. He is described as being of Islander appearance, 175-180cm tall and was wearing a dark hooded jacket. Anyone with information should contact Flemington police on 9646 8699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. 2 A SUSPENDED P-plate licence holder has been charged and had his car confiscated after allegedly street racing in Summer Hill. About 1.15am on Sunday, officers at- tached to Strike Force Taipan were patrol- ling Parramatta Rd at Summer Hill when they detected two cars street racing. The cars were travelling between 100km/h and 110km/h in a 60km/h sign- posted area, police say. Officers managed to stop one of the vehicles, a yellow Holden Monaro. The second vehicle failed to stop, but inquires are continuing. The 31-year-old male driver of the Holden was charged with street racing and exceed- ing the speed limit by more than 30km/h. His car has been confiscated. Police inquiries revealed he was a sus- pended P2 licence holder. He will appear in Burwood Court on February 10. 3 A 15-YEAR-OLD youth is to appear in court after he allegedly attacked State Transit staff and damaged a bus in Drummoyne last Thursday night. The teenager tried to get on the bus on Victoria Rd around 9.50pm but the driver refused because he had no money for the fare. After getting off the bus, the teenager is alleged to have thrown a bottle at the windscreen, causing it to smash. The driver was forced to stop and transfer the passengers on to another bus. Police said the youth returned a short time later and confronted the driver and another member of staff. It is alleged the he assaulted a 58-year-old man before walking to a nearby car park and returning with a metal pole. He used the pole to smash the side door and windscreen of the bus before walking off. The teenager was arrested at a house in Moodie St, Rozelle, on Friday morning and taken to Redfern police station. He was charged with six offences, includ- ing two counts of malicious damage and one count each of intentionally throwing an object at a vehicle risking safety, common assault, affray, and being armed with intent to commit a serious indictable offence.
