Winner of Australian Dance Idol! Winner of Australian Dancer of the Year! 2036275i iww wk29 ADVERTISING FEATURE t's been said that as one door closes another one will always open. Chiswick's RGDance continues to open doors for its young dancers. Just as RGDance student Nick Twiney has finally ended his long run starring as Billy in the musical Billy Elliot, another of the dance school's child stars has scored a leading role on stage. Kayla-Maree Tarantolo, 10, has beaten out some stiff competition to pick up the part of young Clara in Graeme Murphy's adaption of The Nutcracker, which opens at the Opera House in April. "Kayla's not just a fantastic dancer but she has a real star quality,'' RGDance's Rebecca Davies said. "And Kayla doesn't only excel at ballet either - right now she's competing in the finals of the national Showcase Dance competition in Queensland." Given the school's past form at producing winners in this area Kayla might just take out that competition too. RGDance student Brittany Page (who is off to Melbourne this year to join the Australian Ballet School full time) travelled to Canada in 2008 to represent Australia after winning Dancer of the Year at last year's Showcase Dance competition. Her partner in winning the competition's National Duo Championship Brady Kitchingham has since gone on to reach the top 100 in So You Think You Can Dance. "We have so many amazing and naturally talented kids at RGDance including 10 junior associates of the Australian Ballet school, but I'd like to think that we bring something special to the mix as well," Ms Davies said. "Neither Nick nor Brady had much dancing experience before starting as teenagers at RGDance and look at them now. "Regardless of where the balance lies between great teaching and natural talent however, we will definitely be standing by to see what new doors open for the students of RGDance in 2009." stage SET FOR youngsters I Ages 2-18 Years • Fully Equipped Air Conditioned Dance Studio with Mirrors, Ballet Barres and Wooden Floor • Cheerleading, Acrobatics, Aerobics • Specialised Tiny Tots Program • Boys Funk Classes • USA Trip, Eisteddfods, Exams, Shopping Centre Shows and an Annual Concert • Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Tiny Tots, Acrobatics, Cheerleading, Modern Contemporary & Showtroupe Ph 9713 5527 or 0419 410 920 Level 2, 138 Great North Rd, Five Dock Principal: Rachael Lonsdale Member Teacher A.T.O.D.
