Inner Western Courier Thursday Not Used Anymore : February 11th 2009
14 INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, February 12, 2009 1a Marlborough Street, Drummoyne NSW 2047 Tel 9911 6555 Fax 9911 6550 www.canadabay.nsw.gov.au INFORMATION FROM YOUR COUNCIL Recently there has been media coverage regarding the use of land in Brett Park, Drummoyne by the Roads and Traf c Authority (RTA) during the proposed Victoria Road upgrade and Iron Cove Bridge duplication. The RTA advised Council late last year that they would compulsorily acquire the land for use as a construction compound and a car park. Council opposes this and has had no say in the use of the land for this purpose. I am outraged by this, particularly since it has come before any decision has been made on the duplication of the Iron Cove Bridge. It is important that the RTA realise the full impact of their plans and I have demanded that they complete a local area traf c management plan in Canada Bay before they take any action. As Mayor of City of Canada Bay I will continue to do all I can to ensure our community's concerns in relation to the upgrade and duplication are heard by the RTA. The Victoria Road Community Committee's website (www. nonewbridge.com.au) has information about the community opposition and suggests ways you can have your say. On another note, I encourage everyone to come along to the Women's World Cup cricket at Drummoyne Oval next month. It will be a fantastic opportunity to experience world class cricket right in our very own City!
