See Pages 40-41 WESTS Tigers received as many compliments for their new jersey as their first-up win of the 2009 NRL season at Redfern Oval on Sunday. The boys are already describing their new predominantly white strip as ''lucky'' after they outgunned South Sydney 30-26 in the members- only Return to Redfern trial. The nostalgic outing gave coach Tim Sheens the chance to trial players in new positions, most no- tably five-eighth Benji Marshall in the halfback role. Marshall seemed comfortable, scoring the first try of the afternoon and spearheading his team's six tries to five victory. Off the field last week, Wests Tigers sales and marketing general manager Brett Clarke said the new jersey was consistent with the team's brand values of youth and excitement. ''The predominantly white strip compliments our existing main (black) and alternative (orange) jer- seys and will be a benefit to our players during the early season heat,'' he said. Club captain Robbie Farah said the launch, which also marked the 10th anniversary of the joint venture club, was very important. ''At the start of the joint venture, not a lot of people thought that we would survive; we've been around 10 years and we're going to be around for a lot longer,'' Farah said. While the team came 10th last year, Farah said they would defi- nitely go better this year. ''I think we will go good, we have learned from our mistakes and we will be a lot stronger mentally this year,'' he said. The launch of a book detailing the Wests Tigers' 2005 premiership vic- tory, Forever Brothers, also was launched last week. 195 Parramatta Road, HOMEBUSH WEST p: 9746 6400 www.thewentworth.com.au 2008325K WK33 4 fully qualified Chefs - Stylish Outdoor Sunny Deck Visit us at The Wentworth!
