At the February Council meeting, my Mayoral Minute to support the Sydney South West Area Health Service's Organ and Tissue Donation Program was passed unanimously. One of the main aims of this program is to raise community awareness and highlight the importance of organ donation in Australia. Since 1965, over 30,000 Australians have received organ or tissue transplants, many with life threatening conditions who needed this transplant to survive. If you have ever thought about organ donation it is important to talk to your family about your wishes. You can specify which organs and tissue you would be prepared to donate for transplantation -- it's completely your choice. If you would like further information about the Australian Organ Donor Register call 1800 777 203 or visit www.medicareaustralia.gov.au. Enjoy better health and feel great.
