www.innerwestweekly.com.au THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2009 PHONE 9018 3592 80c incl. GST SHIREEN KHALIL and ROBYN AINSWORTH Virginia Judge presents a cheque to the community last year. A COUNCILLOR has emerged as being behind claims that Strathfield State Labor MP Virginia Judge had lobbied for the suburb's police station to be moved to Strathfield Plaza, resulting in a potential conflict of interest. Ms Judge has denied any involve- ment in lease negotiations for a police station at the plaza and has referred the matter to the Independent Com- mission Against Corruption. Ms Judge's political rival, maverick Strathfield councillor Danny Lim, who has been waging a sandwichboard war against her, confirmed to the Inner-West Weekly he had provided a raft of information on Ms Judge to the Liberal Party. The owners of Strathfield Plaza, Memo Corporation, donated $28,000 to Ms Judge's campaign in the three years before the last election. ''I reject completely any suggestion that I have not acted appropriately in regard to this matter,'' Ms Judge said. She confirmed on Tuesday the plaza had been the preferred site for the police station since January 7, although both her and the Police Minister's offices had repeatedly denied a de- cision had been made until this week.
