City of Canada Bay has banded together with other inner west Councils to organise the Inner West Small Business Expo: Surviving the Economic Crisis to be held on Friday, 1 and Saturday, 2 May. The Expo will feature key speakers, workshops and consultations. More information is available on Council's website or contact Council on 9911 6555. Mayor Angelo Tsirekas City of Canada Bay Mayor's message The Inner West Small Business Expo: Surviving the Economic Crisis has been organised by City of Canada Bay with neighbouring local Councils. The two day Expo, to be held on Friday, 1 and Saturday, 2 May will offer information and advice for local businesses and community members. On Saturday, 2 May the Expo will focus on the local community and Council is holding two workshops at Concord Library aimed at providing assistance in today's tough ecomomic climate. At 10am you can learn about ways to improve your househould budget and investment during the crisis and at 2pm a session on coping with recession and reduncany stress will be held. Both of these workshops are free to attend however bookings are essential. Mother's Day competition Community Grants Program Small Business Expo Earth Day The City of Canada Bay provides non- recurrent nancial assistance to non-pro t community groups and organisations that operate services or conduct activities of bene t to residents within the Canada Bay local government area. Applications are now invited for the 2009/10 Community Grants Program. All applications will be assessed on their individual merit. Applications that help ful l the outcomes of Council's FuturesPlan20 will be highly regarded. Applications close on Friday, 29 May 2009. Celebrate Earth Day with Canada Bay! Come along to Rodd Point on Saturday, April 25 at 10.30am for morning tea and a chat with Council's Bush Care staff about the Sisters Bay Bush Care project. At 11am Dennis Jones, internationally acclaimed wildlife and nature photographer for the Lonely Planet and Gecko will run a free nature photography workshop and photo safari around Rodd Point. All participants in the photo safari will need to have their own camera. City of Canada Bay's sculpture, La Famiglia has been nominated in the 2009 Local Government and Shires Association, Cultural Awards. This year, residents have the opportunity to have their say on their favourite projects and are able to vote for the People's Choice award.
