The 18-year-old was travelling north on Old Canterbury Rd about 9am on Thursday when he accelerated harshly and did a wheelie, police say. Police also allege he was travelling at 83km/h in a 40km/h school zone. The rider was fined $609 for exceeding the speed limit by more than 30km/h and $324 for negligent driving. As the offence was committed in a double- demerit period, the rider also lost eight demerit points. Southwest metropolitan re- gion traffic co- ordinator Senior Sgt Andrew Pierce was ap- palled by the in- cident. ''I would say this at any time however the gravity of what happened is only magnified because these actions took place in a school zone,'' he said. ''This type of behaviour is unacceptable and places some of the community's most vulnerable people, our children, at an elevated risk.'' 2 A P-PLATE driver from Drummoyne has lost his licence after being charged with drink-driving and speeding offences on Easter Monday. The 24-year-old was driving along Dobroyd Rd, Haberfield, about 12.20am when he was allegedly detected travelling at 117km/h in a 60km/h zone. A roadside breath test returned a positive reading, police said. The man produced a P1 provisional licence despite the fact he was not display- ing P-plates on his car, police said. He was arrested and taken to Burwood police station where a breath analysis was conducted. His licence was suspended and he was charged with driving with a mid-range PCA, driving at a dangerous speed, exceed- ing the speed limit by more than 45km/h and not displaying P-plates. He is due to appear at Burwood Court on May 5. 3 DETECTIVES investigating a stabbing in Auburn on Easter Monday are appealing to the public for information. Hepburn look proves winner Petra Nolan from Chiswick won Fashions on the Field at the Golden Slipper. A DAY at the Rosehill races proved especially lucky for a Chiswick fashionista who was first past the post in the best-dressed stakes. Petra Nolan's chic '50s-style outfit took the honours in Myer's Fashions on the Field competition on Golden Slipper Day. Ms Nolan wore a champagne satin vintage dress in Dior's New Look silhouette, dating from the late '40s to early '50s. Her statement hat was specially made by Annandale milliner Sandie Bizys and her bag and shoes were also vintage. ''I wanted to keep it consistent in terms of era,'' she said. ''This year it was all about retro glamour, elegance, sophistication -- very much the Audrey Hepburn look.'' It was only Ms Nolan's second time entering a racewear fashion competition, having come third in the same event last year. ''I never actually realised I was going to win,'' she said. ''I was overwhelmed and totally shocked.'' Authorised by the Australian Government, Capital Hill, Canberra Advertisement ATOTB4/7 One-off tax-free payments start from early April 2009. Be patient.
