Gusty winds Top Temp: 22C Faulty heaters, blenders TWO fan heater models, which could catch fire due to a faulty internal connection, and three blenders have been recalled by GAF Control Australia. The Sunair Fan Heater model FHS35 and FHS34, You'll Love Coles blender model YLCB, Tiffany blender model BBL1 and Homemaker blender model HMBLS were all recalled after numerous complaints. Five people reported the heaters had caught fire, while 20 consumers found the nut holding the blender's motor could be easily broken due to inferior material. The heater had been sold since 2005. Fair Trading Minister Virginia Judge said without the nut, the blade of the blender was able to swing freely and in one case broke a glass bowl and injured the user. Consumers are urged to stop using the products and return them to the place of purchase to receive a full refund. Details: GAF Control on 1300 659 489. Cracker of an idea From Page 1 ''The program has been put on a backburner because they have stopped the land sales, which would have allowed us the funds to do these projects,'' Cr Faker said. ''The strategy is there, the funding was there as well, it just goes back to why (do) we need to spend hundreds of thousands on consultants to tell us what we already know, such as having a 3D model of the town centre and a parking strategy. ''We could spend this money on footpaths and other com- munity benefits.'' He said he had been getting complaints from residents about why the capital works program had been put on hold and why the council hadn't been fixing damaged footpaths. ''I'll be calling for an investi- gation on how we can reverse the financial rot, using the money to fix the problem rather than going towards consultants, and bringing back the WalkSafe strategy,'' Cr Faker said. Cr Furneaux-Cook said the council had just completed footpath works at the Appian Way. ''Council workers are now undertaking extensive footpath works at Parramatta Rd near Cheltenham Rd,'' she said. ''This is a substantial project which will see a widened footpath which will also include a cycleway. These works are taking place at night to lessen disruptions.'' A Burwood Council spokes- man said if residents have con- cerns about pavements in specific areas, they should no- tify the council. ''Staff will then inspect and assess the situation, followed by a decision on the necessity and timing of the repair.'' www.napf.com.au DOVER ST. PARRAMATTA RD TEBBUTT ST. CROWN ST. FRENCHS LANE.
