Tell us at www.innerwestweekly.com.au Sharing the love AN eye-catching graffiti tag which has started popping up in Summer Hill is winning the hearts of some local residents. In fact, several local business owners who usually have a zero- tolerance approach to graffiti have decided the heart-shaped purple and yellow tag is too pretty to paint over. At Maurice Dry Cleaners where one of the tags appeared on the wall a few weeks ago, employee Carol Hutchison said staff wouldn't be removing it. ''It's actually cute,'' she said. Shopper Lauran Ware also gave the tag the thumbs up. ''I believe in any form of artistic expression and don't mind the fact that it is in the public domain,'' she said. And although staff at Envy Cafe painted over the tag when it appeared on their building a few weeks ago, staff member Ryan Cousins conceded it could be worse. ''It could be rude words,'' he said. ''Someone's trying to bring the love into Summer Hill.'' Even with many people loving the design, the writing could still be on the wall for the tag. An Ashfield Council spokes- woman said the council's clean team will remove it when they see it, pretty or not. ''Although council is aware some people like the heart graffiti, if council starts discriminating between the nature and type of graffiti it removes, we will be sending the wrong message to graffiti vandals,'' she said.
