MB INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, May 21, 2009 11 NEWS Scouts work to sail 2nd Abbotsford Port Neptune sea scouts need a new ramp so they can launch their boats. Picture: PHIL BLATCH ~P0640230 THIS merry troop of sea scouts need your help to float their boats. The 2nd Abbotsford Port Neptune Sea Scouts are try- ing to raise $90,000 to pay for a boat ramp at their new hall and boatshed. And this week, they're going to roll up their sleeves for Scout Job Week in the hope they'll raise some money to put in the bank. Job week co-ordinator Pam O'Mahony said the sea scouts were being forced to stay as landlubbers because of the lack of a boat ramp. ''We can't do much sailing at the moment without it,'' she said. ''We have to lift the boats in and out.'' Founded in 1932, 2nd Abbotsford is one of the oldest Sea Scout groups in Australia. Their new hall which opened in October includes storage for sails and camping equipment. plus disabled access and two meeting rooms. The scouts also need to raise $80,000 to pay off the hall so Ms O'Mahony said money was desperately needed. ''Every little bit counts, so that's where Scout Job Week comes in.'' The sea scouts will take part in a bag pack at Burwood Coles today from 5pm to 8pm. If you have a job for the scouts, phone Pam O'Mahony on 0417 208 156.
