Inner Western Courier Thursday Not Used Anymore : June 10th 2009
16 INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, June 11, 2009 MB NEWS Chance to see it for yourself Kirk Pengilly and Janice Petersen WHAT would you pay to see? We are being asked to use our wit and imagination to fundraise for eye health during July in a fun and poignant campaign called What would you pay to see? As part of the Eye Foundation's month- long julEYE campaign INXS musician and foundation ambassador Kirk Pengilly will face his fear of heights by skydiving while SBS presenter Janice Petersen will swim with sharks. July is the month you can get away with just about anything in the name of charity. If you would like to issue a challenge of what you would like to see to go to www.innerwestweekly.com.au and follow the julEYE link. The Eye Foundation will then endeavour to persuade whoever has been challenged to take up the dare. Or if you are already happy to take up a dare create a challenge page on www.whatwouldyoupaytosee.com.au, set your fundraising target, ask friends and family to donate to your challenge and when you have reached your target perform your challenge, posting video or photo- graphic evidence on the web page. Seventy five percent of visual impair- ment can be either prevented or treated yet every 65 minutes an ordinary, everyday Australian loses their vision and despite the common perception, vision loss is not restricted to the aging. Kirk Pengilly was in his 20s and touring with INXS when he was diagnosed with severe glaucoma, nearly losing his sight. julEYE funds crucial research into the causes, preventions and cures of eye disease with the vision of giving everyone every opportunity to see. Forza Ferrari! Cars are back EVERY man's dream will come true on Saturday when Homebush Bay hosts a classic Italian cars and bikes display. In its very own Mediterranean-style piazza, The Waterfront on Bennelong Rd will exhibit about 50 cars and 30 bikes, including the much-adored Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Ducati and Vespa models. Aficionados of such prestigious cars will be pleased to know that the owners may permit spectators to sit behind the wheel of their prized vehicles, which include a Ferrari 360 Coupe and a Maserati GranSport Spyder. The display is part of the Italian National Day Festa celebrations being held between 10am and 5pm, which will also feature wine tastings and a string of stalls selling Italian produce, gelato and coffee. The Waterfront Bocce Club will be there hosting matches and people will be able to make their own pizza in a wood-fired oven in the Piazza. There will also be plenty of fun activities for the kids and restaurants offering specials on their authentic Italian menus throughout the day. HALF YEARLY SALE ON NOW!
