Celebrity chef Janelle Bloom cooked up a storm with an array of dishes and was a hit with the visitors. Wine guru Stephen Knight also managed to have a full house for his three sessions. Kids in the Kitchen finalists were Stephanie Labruna, who whipped up a bacon and cannellini risotto, Laura Sorrentino with her oreo truffles and Poppy Bournelis, with her chicken nuggets). Poppy won the competition. Children also enjoyed pony rides and jumping castles. Documentary will inspire IN celebration of NAIDOC week 2009, Inner West social justice group Australians For Native Title and Reconciliation will present a free screening of the inspirational docu- mentary Fire Talker on Monday, July 6. The documentary, screening at Greater Union, Westfield Burwood, at 6.30pm, ex- plores the life of Aboriginal activist Dr Charles Perkins AO. It details his life as an Aboriginal activist and bureaucrat from his days as an inter- national footballer, through to being Aust- ralia's first Aboriginal person to receive a university degree. Dr Perkins' daughter Rachel said: ''The main thing my father taught me is that individuals can make a change in their world. ''I saw my father educate, motivate, challenge and touch people with his words.'' The social justice group promotes rec- onciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and those from a non-indigenous background.
