Tickets from Ticketek SHIREEN KHALIL Dirk Benedict who played Lt. Starbuck in Battlestar Galactica For the full interview go to www.innerwestweekly.com.au ALIGHTING the Battlestar Galatica battleship into the Inner West is Dirk Benedict, who played Lt. Starbuck on the sci-fi show. Benedict, who also played Faceman alongside Mr T in The A-Team, will be heading to Sydney Olympic Park this weekend for the Supanova Expo, signing autographs and answering questions. ''I have never been to Supanova before. I have been invited for the past seven years but I've been busy with my kids,'' he said. For 15 years Benedict has been raising his three sons on his own and is gladly bringing one of them along to the expo. ''I haven't thought about what I'll do . . . I'll be heading into the city but I don't know what's out and about -- I'll see when I get there,'' he said. Benedict, who started his career on Broadway, said he took on the role of Lt. Starbuck because the character was wonderfully written. ''Starbuck was well written -- he was a loveable conman who liked to drink and chase the girls,'' Benedict said. He also said the best thing about the series was that ''for the first time in my life, I didn't have to worry about the rent''. Benedict said Battlestar Galatica differed quite a bit to The A-team. ''Battlestar was more of a soap opera and The A-Team was a lot funnier because it was so darn silly and I love being silly,'' he said.
