Inner Western Courier Thursday Not Used Anymore : July 1st 2009
MB INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, July 2, 2009 19 STREETVIEW Jackson will be missed Shen Tokyurek Chris Ventura Roxanne Russell-Smith Adrian Di Francesco Kara Otter The death of Michael Jackson has affected hundreds of thousands of people across the globe. We asked how people at Burwood were holding up after the King of Pop's death and it seems like everyone believes we have lost a great artist. Shen Tokyurek, of Auburn: It's upsetting however no one is invincible. I was a fan and I've got all his number 1 records, but my favorite song is Billie Jean. I grew up listening to his music. Chris Ventura, of Erskinville: All my family were big fans and I grew up listening to his music. A friend of mine got a text from his friend in the morning and he just told us Michael Jackson was dead and I didn't believe him until I turned on the TV. I had to see it for myself. Roxanne Russell-Smith, of Glebe: It's such a great loss to the world because of all the good things he contributed to the world and trying to make it a better place. He actually did try to make the younger generation happier. I think it's really sad that he died at such a young age and also to go with such talent and a great status in the world. Adrian Di Francesco, of Kingsgrove: I think it's a great loss for our generation, it's such a sad thing to happen especially for the MTV generation. Everyone is now realising how good he is. I haven't been a massive fan but I didn't even realise how much he has done and how influential he is. I just got his entire collection two weeks before he passed away. Kara Otter, of Five Dock: It's quite tragic. I recently read in the papers that his kids aren't really his, which is a shame. All of a sudden everyone who didn't really like him have become fans, after he has died. I have always been a fan and have been playing his albums non-stop.
