10 INNER WEST COURIER, Thursday, July 16, 2009 MB NEWS www.innerwestcourier.com.au Bowls champion Sharyn Renshaw gives some coaching at a school holiday camp at Strathfield Bowling Club. Picture: CRAIG WILSON Junior bowls camp finds hidden talent INNER West students were bowled over by the Metro Junior School Holiday Camp at South Strathfield Bowling Club this week. The program was held for a group of young bowlers to learn from the best in the game. Club president Brian Hughes was thrilled his club was chosen to host the first event of its kind in NSW. ''During the camp these students learn more about the sport and also get coaching from some great players. This is great for the community.'' One coach, Ryan Bester, plays in the NSW Premier League. ''I really enjoy helping out the juniors because they're the future of the sport. We give out hints and pointers to help them with the mental side of the game,'' Bester said. ''The program has been really good. I can see a lot of potential here.'' Bowls NSW sports development officer Chris Macauley said the association hoped to bring bowls to a new generation.
