Traffic Management Scheme Bennelong Parkway and Hill Road, Homebush Bay Auburn Council, in conjunction with Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA), has developed concept plans for the proposed traffic management scheme for Bennelong Parkway and Hill Road. These concept plans have been prepared based on a master plan jointly developed by council and SOPA, previously endorsed by council in 2004. The main features of the proposed traffic management scheme are the creation of a "road through a park" character, traffic calming, pedestrian and cyclist safety and vehicle safety. These plans are on display at Auburn Council's Customer Service Centre, 1 Susan Street, Auburn and Newington Community Centre, Avenue of Europe, Newington. Following consultation and endorsement of the future traffic management scheme, council will undertake a detailed street lighting design to Australian Standards in Bennelong Parkway and Hill Road, and a traffic signal design at the intersection of Bennelong Parkway and Hill Road. Council will also undertake design of suitable intersection controls at side street intersections. Your comments are invited on the proposal. Please address all comments to Auburn Council, PO Box 118, Auburn 1835, attention Transportation and Traffic Coordinator, before Friday 25 July. The comments will be considered prior to the preparation of final designs. Works are proposed to commence on the scheme in early 2009. For further information, call Soma Somaskanthan on 9735 1271.
