The 27 year old is playing the lead role in the Stations of the Cross performance, a re- enactment of Jesus's final hours, acted out across some of Sydney's most famous landmarks. At the Opera House, he'll appear before Pontius Pilate, be whipped and crowned with thorns before beginning his journey carrying the cross. He's already had the all import- ant cross-fitting. ''Basically the idea was to get all the measurements right and check that I was comfortable at a particu- lar position,'' Stuto said. With the Pope watching and his three-hour performance televised live to the world, the married advertising consultant is, as would be expected, ''a little ner- vous''. ''I'm hoping to get some time alone that morning to do my meditation and think about what I'll be doing,'' he said. Stuto remains hopeful the event will bring people together, rather than be divisive. ''You're going to get that (controversy) with any event and, at the end of the day, we just need to focus on the positives,'' he said. After next Friday it will be ''back to work as usual'', although he says ''if God opens up any other doors in the future, then so be it''. World Youth Day news: Pages 4-6
