Inner Western Courier Thursday Not Used Anymore : July 23 2008
24 INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, July 24, 2008 STREETVIEW What makes a miracle? Susan Murray Vicki Akritos Roisin O'Doherty Della Aynsley Maria Zalalas It was impossible not to feel the presence of the Catholic faith this week as thousands of pilgrims descended on Sydney for a glimpse of the church's spiritual leader. With the end of World Youth Day and the Pope's departure, we asked five locals at The Strand in Croydon what they would consider a miracle, religious or otherwise. Susan Murray: I think a very real miracle is when people turn to follow Christ. Vicki Akritos: In my life I don't see any miracles but I would like to see one. I'm very happy to see the Pope bless Mary MacKillop. It was a very happy occasion because it brings people together. Roisin O'Doherty: I suppose some- thing that you can't control. Some- thing that people would consider out of the ordinary. Della Aynsley: If they actually fix climate change. I think they'll say a lot of things and not necessarily do a lot. It'll be a miracle if they fix it. Maria Zalalas: A cure for all illnesses because I work in the health industry and I see illnesses such as cancer and dementia on an everyday basis.
