Inner Western Courier Thursday Not Used Anymore : August 20 2008
12 INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, August 21, 2008 NEWS Spot the difference: Mayor John Faker and Elvis. The King is alive in the Inner West SHIREEN KHALIL IF you saw Elvis cruising on Burwood Rd in a 1963 Chevy Impala last Saturday then you were among the lucky ones who caught a sneak peak of what Burwood festival will offer this year. ''It was the anniversary of Elvis' death, so we couldn't have chosen a better day to honour his memory and bring him back to life,'' a Burwood Council spokesman said. The Chevy and its special passenger drove along Burwood Rd and stopped in front of Westfield for photographs with kids and admirers. Burwood Mayor John Faker, who has a strong passion for classic cars, got into the spirit by showing off his special Elvis moves and singing his songs. The festival on September 7 will feature a massive classic car display showcasing over 150 vehicles and a live performance by Elvis and his band.
