For full terms and conditions visit www.findyourselfnow.com.au Pipeline route (microtunnelled) Indicative pit location Construction area Not to scale Sydney Park Alexandria Sydney Park Road Euston Road Campbell Road Alexandra Canal Euston Road Burrows Road Barwon Park Road PrincesHighway Euston Lane Sydney Water is building an 18-kilometre pipeline from the desalination plant at Kurnell to Erskineville. The desalination plant will supply 15 per cent of Sydney's water needs and is one of the initiatives to secure Sydney's water supply against the effects of climate change, population growth and drought. From mid August 2008, three construction areas will be built at the edge of Sydney Park in Alexandria, along Euston Road (see the map below). The pipeline will be tunnelled between the construction areas under the road reserve of Euston Road (approximately under the footpath on the boundary of Sydney Park). To reduce the impact of our work on Sydney Park, Sydney Water is working with the City of Sydney Council and a qualified arborist to design the construction areas so that the minimum number of trees are removed. No heritage trees will be removed and most of the trees affected will either be replanted or replaced. The three Sydney Park construction areas will be in place until late 2009. When work is finished the area will be returned to its original condition or better, in keeping with the City of Sydney Council's future plans for the area.
