MB INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, September 18, 2008 35 TOP NOSH www.innerwestweekly.com.au Pub has a taste for all seasons Santosh, James, Ashley and Tran -- the four chefs from the Wentworth Hotel at Homebush West. Pictures: PHIL BLATCH NAME: Wentworth Hotel WHERE: 195 Parramatta Rd, Homebush West. Phone 9746 6400 OPEN: Monday to Sunday from 10am till late. PROFILE: Shireen Khalil Grilled snapper fillet with tarragon risotto. WENTWORTH Hotel is getting into the spring of things with a new menu and a variety of activities that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Since the bistro introduced four fully licensed chefs they decided to go for a more ''seasonal, modern and fresh" menu. The new menu will come into effect in a few weeks, however I was given a sneak peak of what to expect. The grilled snapper fillet ($24) really captures the spring feeling. The tarragon risotto accompanying it has a fresh zingy taste and is served with baby peas, cherry tomatoes and confit of garlic. The great thing about pub food is that it's affordable and the servings are huge, just like the Wentworth pork USA ribs ($24). The rack of ribs with a tomato sticky marinade are enough to feed two people. It comes with a bowl of salad with salsa dressing and wedges. But if you're after an even better deal, then go for the $5 T-bone steak with salad and fries or vegetables every Friday between 5pm and 9pm or the $5 schnitzel on Tuesday nights. Owner of 15 years, Rod Salmon likes to describe the Wentworth as a pub for everyone. ''Not only do we have a large kids area with play equipment outside and a kids room with Playstations, but we also have five other sections to the pub, which is good for karaoke, sporting events, functions and much more,'' he said. The Wentworth also holds barbecues outside in the pergola for private functions. ''The prices start from $18 per person and we do a private barbecue for them and there is also a pool table for them to enjoy,'' head chef Tran said. One of the more popular days is family Sunday, which has live music from 3pm and free pool all day. ''With the entire venue seating up to 400 people, there is always something to do and somewhere to sit and people enjoy the variety and atmosphere of the pub, which is fantastic,'' Mr Salmon said. 2042501k wk08 TUESDAY NIGHTS ARE FUN AT BEL PARCO - ENJOY TAPAS, BEER AND WINE For only $29* per person enjoy Bel Parco's Tapas Tuesday night special, comprising 5 courses of tapas, a glass of beer or Pinot Gris.
