I am honoured and humbled to be elected and to serve our diverse community. I wish to thank Cr Bill Carney, former Mayor and Deputy Mayor, who together with all councillors from the previous term, helped to restore the community's confidence in the Council. While we have come a long way, I realise that, as is the case at any Council, ensuring that the community has faith in all of us is an ongoing task and this will be one of my key focuses as Mayor. But I assure the community that all councillors and I will have an honest and sincere approach to the roles that we have been elected to by constantly being mindful that we represent the interests of the residents, ratepayers and the community at large. Crs Paul Barron and Carney, as well as myself, are joined on Council by four fresh faces. They are newly elected Deputy Mayor Hope Brett-Bowen and Crs Sundar Eswaran, Danny Lim and Tony Maroun. I welcome them all to Council and look forward to working with them. Just finally, on behalf of the entire Council I would like to thank everyone who attended last week's Strathfield Spring Fair. The event was a great success, with a crowd of over 18,000 attending the event on what was a perfect day. This year's Strathfield Spring Fair was a great success. Thank you to residents, community groups and visitors who participated in the Fair, sponsors and to Council staff who planned and managed such a successful day.
