Inner Western Courier Thursday Not Used Anymore : October 1 2008
32 INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, October 2, 2008 MB STREETVIEW Daylight's worth saving Richard Gerstenberg Philip Brennan Una Connolly Patrick Oliveiro Eugene Culloty Daylight saving time has been extended this year, starting one month earlier than usual, on the first Sunday in October. We asked five people at Wareemba whether they were happy to have the extra month of evening daylight. Richard Gerstenberg, of Turramurra: As long as it gives you a longer day in the evening, I'm happy. I am from Germany and I was very surprised here that it gets dark at 5pm. More time in the evening is always good. Philip Brennan, of Annandale: I honestly can't see anything wrong with daylight saving. I start early in the morning so it gives me more daylight. I get up in the dark now so it won't make any difference. Una Connolly, of Chiswick: It's good in some ways and not in others. It lasts a bit long so I don't know if I'm happy that it's starting early this year. But generally its good to have daylight saving when it's cold in winter. Patrick Oliveiro, of Annandale: I most definitely enjoy daylight saving because when you come home it's still light. I like coming home because normal days you get up it's dark, you get home it's dark. I think everyone will be happy with daylight saving. The only thing with that is you end up having dinner later. Eugene Culloty, of Russell Lea: I think it's good. You can get out and about and go for a bit of exercise after work if you get home at 6pm or 7pm. I think it's great, we'd be happy if it goes on for a bit longer. OPINION ASHFIELD MUNICIPAL COUNCIL ELECTION HELD SATURDAY, 13 SEPTEMBER 2008 2242663i_iww_w14
