MB INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, October 2, 2008 35 TOP NOSH www.innerwestweekly.com.au Ecco earns the f word: fabulous NAME: Ecco Ristorante WHERE: Drummoyne Sailing Club, 2 St George Cres, Drummoyne OPEN: Monday closed, lunch Tuesday to Friday and Sunday noon-pm, and dinner Tuesday to Saturday 6pm-10pm PROFILE: Shireen Khalil The extraordinary seafood platter at Ecco. Picture: Phil Blatch ~PP197116 The deboned quail is delicious. IF chef Gordon Ramsay drops by Ecco Ristorante he will have no alternative but to use the ''f'' word -- fabulous! The restaurant, which specialises in modern Italian food, is located among houses on a hill overlooking the water in Drummoyne. It truly captures an Italian environment with its location, food and outstanding design. There is nothing better than the taste of homemade Italian food and manager Frank Astorino said one of their favourite customer dishes was the homemade gnocchi, which wasn't hard to believe at all. The gnocchi cicale di mare, $25, comes with moreton bay bug meat, garlic, brandy, shallots, cream and napoletana, and is a must for all pasta lovers. There are more than four sections of the menu to choose from, including meats, pasta and seafood. To top it off, Ecco staff update their specials menu on a daily basis. The restaurant is detailed to perfection, from its beautifully placed table cloths to its impressive food presentation such as the grigliata di mare (seafood platter), $39, which looked so neat I did not want to eat it. Then again, I love my seafood so there was no stopping me from digging into the tender prawns with scampi, scallops and swordfish drizzled with salmoriglio dressing. To help set the Italian mood, they had soft classical music playing in the background and at this point I took the time to enjoy the beautiful water views while watching my companion feast into the tasty looking quaglia saltinbocca, $34. It looked like he really enjoyed the deboned quail with, prosciutto, spinach, pinenuts sultanas and aged-balsamic jus, because he didn't leave a morsel. Ecco takes pride in giving their customers the best service and environment for a fine dining experience. Mr Astorino said customers all over the area regularly visited the restaurant. ''We get a lot of locals and people travelling from the eastern suburbs to our restaurant, who range from couples to families,'' he said. It's the perfect place for couples who are after a relaxing, European dining experience, or families who want to get together for a pleasurable night out. 461 Marine Henley Drive, Drummoyne Ph: 9719 8392 aquavista.net.au indulge yourself 2032394K wk14 A LA CARTE RESTAURANT Bistro / Woodfired pizzas Water edge views FUNCTIONS AVAILABLE Christmas / NYE / Celebrations BUSINESS LUNCH Available Mon - Fri $25.50 2005 / 2006 / 2007 FINALIST Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence Weekend Bookings Essential OPEN 7 DAYS Lunch & Dinner 10TH OCTOBER Sports Lunch with Malcolm Johnston & Doug Walters BOOK YOUR TABLE NOW 9743 2225 LUNCH: DINNER: 195 Parramatta R OMEBUSH WEST Only have 1 hr for lunch?
