Inner Western Courier Thursday Not Used Anymore : October 1 2008
38 INNER-WEST WEEKLY, Thursday, October 2, 2008 MB STEPPING OUT FRANS-tastic show STEVE STICKNEY George Washingmachine is set to entertain. WONDERFUL music for a worthwhile cause -- that's what's on offer at Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL on Friday, October 10. To mark their 25th anniversary, Inner West- based family support group FRANS have pulled together a trifecta of outstanding entertainers. Versatile comedian and jazz virtuoso George Washingmachine will MC the program, which also features multi-Golden Guitar winners The McClymont Sisters and internationally-renowned violin maestros the Fiddlers Feast, featuring Marcus Holden. FRANS (Family Resources and Network Support) provide support and respite services for more than 350 families and individuals, and want to mark their quarter of a century with an exciting all- star event for families. From humble origins in Grafton on the NSW north coast, The McClymonts wowed Tamworth, have a hit album Chaos and Bright Lights, and were honoured to be invited to entertain our soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq last Christmas and New Year. Multi-talented violinist George Washingmachine has worked with the likes of Sarah Vaughan and Al Jareau on the international stage, but is also one of the funniest Aussies on the entertainment landscape. Marcus Holden and his Fiddlers Feast have spread their wings from Tamworth to the world, and are now acclaimed as one of our finest musical exports, having pulled crowds to their feet on four continents. The FRANS-tastic 25th birthday concert is at Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL, 20 Canterbury Rd, Hurlstone Park on Friday night, October 10. Tickets are $40. Book at the club (9559 0000) or at FRANS (9799 4333).
